The leaders of the Indigenous Peoples Team, part of the Advocacy & Witness group, researched and read several books by Indigenous authors this summer. They found one they both liked, Whiskey Tender by Deborah Jackson Taffa, and suggested it for our Fall Congregational read. It has gotten many good reviews, including one by Tommy Orange that says “This book, never anything less than mesmerizing, is full of family stories and vital Native history. It pulses and it aches, and it lifts, consistently.” We will discuss this book over Zoom on October 15th at 7PM.
