SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:30AM ONLINE & IN-PERSON

Holidays and Traditions

Our partner church in Torockó, Romania sent us this personal message in 2022.

UU Wellesley Hills holds worship services year-round. During the regular program year, spanning September through mid-June, we meet in the Sanctuary at 10:30 am. Ingathering Sunday, after Labor Day, features a Water Celebration where people mingle waters they have collected over the summer months. We end the program year on Father’s Day with a Flower Ceremony, where people exchange springtime blooms.  We always honor the preciousness of our time together in community, with Sunday worship followed by a Fellowship Hour in our Parish Hall.

Throughout the year, we mark special occasions, including religious holidays and civic observances: Blessing of the Animals, Remembrances Day, the Jewish High Holidays, Christmas Eve, Winter Solstice, Martin Luther King Day, Tenebrae (Thursday evening) and Easter Sunday, and World Pride Day. We acknowledge the sacred dimensions of seasons and cycles of time.

During July and August, Sunday gatherings are held in the Chapel, beginning at 10:00 am. Lay-led and briefer than regular services, the gatherings include music, candles of joy and concern, passages read by attendees, and discussion of the week’s theme. Fellowship Hour follows immediately after the service.
