Unitarian Universalists do not have a creed – we do not have a set of beliefs or practices that we must adhere to in order to consider ourselves, or be deemed by a higher authority, as UUs. However, we do have a set of principles that guide us in our faith and our everyday actions. Many, most, perhaps all UUs consider love as the central force that drives everything else. It is love – for our fellow humans, for the Earth and all the creatures who share our planet, for life itself – that motivates us to care for others and to promote peace and the well-being of all.
The congregation of UU Wellesley Hills is affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association which provides support to over 1000 congregations throughout the USA and the world. The UUA is governed by a set of bylaws and rules which were amended via democratic process in June 2024 at our General Assembly, the annual gathering of voting delegates and interested others. A core section of these bylaws is Article II which outlines the principles and purposes of the UUA.
