Our monthly plate collection theme for January is Racial Justice and this Sunday’s collection will benefit Partakers Inc., which promotes education and mentoring for incarcerated men and women. For 27 years, its College Behind Bars Program has provided mentoring to incarcerated students who, once released, have just a 2% recidivism rate compared to the national average of 79%. UU Wellesley members have maintained a relationship with mentee and college graduate, Gregory Robinson, since 2002. For 5 years, Partakers’ Empowerment Program has been providing skills training and essential mentor support to folks returning home, helping them to navigate the difficult and often fraught path of reentry. To date, over 90% of PEP graduates have secured employment and stable housing. Partakers is currently building their mentor base for both programs. Please contact Elaine Mittell for more information. Your generous contribution will be most appreciated. To donate, use the “Give” page on our website or if you send a check to the church office, be sure to write “Partakers” on the memo line.
