UU Wellesley Hills has a long history of spawning and supporting Unitarian Universalist organizations, and our UU Partners Task Force helps us to maintain strategic partnerships with local, national and international groups that work to affirm and promote our progressive values and religious principles. In doing so, we commit to furthering the cause of social justice everywhere.
Our current affiliations include membership in or partnership with the UU Urban Ministry (UUUM), UU Mass Action, the UU Partner Church Council (UUPCC), the UU Service Committee (UUSC), and the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists (ICUU). We routinely support them through plate collections funding their work.
Our support is sometimes quite concrete, however. Our UUUM volunteers help by offering mentoring and volunteering to teach in programs at the UUUM campus located in West Roxbury. Each holiday season, our congregation brings its Undecorate the Tree gifts are given to participants of the UUUM Believe in Success program for domestic violence survivors. We arrange overseas pilgrimages through the UUPCC and provide financial assistance to our particular partner church in Torocko, Romania, supplementing the minister’s salary and contributing to educational expenses for students there.
